Simple opens its Virtual Doors
I signed up yesterday. The sign-up process was well designed and worked flawlessly. I have high hopes.
Ben Brooks makes a great point that I had not considered:

I can’t think of a better way to assure an app store of continued traffic.

MacDrifter on Text Editors
[Gabe from MacDrifter]() lists a number of good resources for both BBEdit and Sublime Text.
I moved from TextMate to BBEdit when I upgraded my Macbook and was learning Ruby. Some of these links would have been helpful during that.

I was running into some problems with [OmniFocus’](http://www.omnigroup.com/products/omnifocus/) mail rules on my systems that have been upgraded to [Mountain Lion](http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id=r*bqlTuiXSo&offerid=146261&type=3&subid=0&tmpid=1826&RD_PARM1=http%253A%252F%252Fitunes.apple.com%252Fus%252Fapp%252Fos-x-mountain-lion%252Fid537386512%253Fmt%253D12%2526uo%253D4%2526partnerId%253D30)[^aff]. This workaround can be used to fix things until OmniFocus is upgraded.[^aff2]
[^aff2]: This problem should only come up if you have not previously setup your mail rules, however, Mountain Lion’s iCloud syncing of mail rules might end up causing some problems that require you resetting up those rules. That’s what happened to me.

Though I’ve seen posts that touch on the problems with Apple’s Mac App Store, this is the first one that tackles the issue head on:

This usually works for them, but this time, they’ve made a critical strategic error: leaving is often a better option, or the only option, for the affected developers. Many of them have already left, and many more will.
His also addresses how this might harm iCloud’s adoption rate by developers:

Power Goes out at the NC Bar Exam
My fiancé was in there. She said it was surreal.[^comp] Not mentioned in the Above the Law article is that the large metal doors in the warehouse-like building they take the exam were shaking and clanging due to high winds in the area. Good times all around.

Ads in Parallels

I was wondering about this the other day. In the legal world, you, inevitably, run into situations where you are forced to do something with Windows. I have noticed the Parallels has become increasingly annoying with its “in-production notifications.” Maybe when the next version of VM Fusion comes out, I’ll make the jump.
