A Repsonse to Scott Turow’s New York Times Article

An excellent response to Mr. Turow by Mike Masnick. If you read the Turow piece, then I would encourage you to read Mr. Masnick’s whole reply.

News Corp. COO: If we lose Aereo copyright case, we‘ll stop broadcasting

To which I say: Fine. Do it.

It is time for the entire content production / distribution model in television to change. Let’s hope Aereo can help push that forward.

The Disney Tourist Blog explains the Magic Kingdom’s Kiss Goodnight

> Too few Walt Disney World fans know about The Kiss Goodnight. If you just thought, “what’s that?” you’re not alone. The Kiss Goodnight is a little over 2-minutes long, and it is the Magic Kingdom’s way of saying “goodbye” to guests at the end of a long day. It usually play every 30 minutes after the park closes (meaning you could see it more than once in a single night–we once saw it 3 times in the same night!), and starts with Cinderella Castle “twinkling” as the music from When You Wish Upon a Star slowly builds.

I am a huge Walt Disney World fan, but even I did not know about this. You can be sure I will stick around to watch it next time that I visit.

101 Great Disney World Tips from the Disney Tourist Blog

This is a really great list.

Includes some that I already knew, but are worth highlighting:

* In the parks, Sunshine Seasons and Electric Umbrella at Epcot, Tortuga Tavern in the Magic Kingdom, Backlot Express in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Restaurantosaurus in Disney’s Animal Kingdom all have drink refill stations for free refills.

* Free Wi-Fi internet is now available in the theme parks and resort hotels at Walt Disney World.

Some that I did not know and am excited to try out:

* Walt Disney World counter service restaurants will give you a free cup of water (ask for a large cup!) or a free cup of hot water.

* Don’t believe what anyone says about the best “secret” Wishes! fireworks viewing spots. The best spots are all on Main Street USA (the very best spot is just north of Casey’s Corner). Do not watch the Wishes! fireworks in the Magic Kingdom from the hub beyond the Partners statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse. You will be too close to Cinderella Castle, and won’t be able to see much of the show.

* Adults can always order from the kid’s menu, which is a great way to save money while still getting a meal that will satiate smaller/moderate appetites.

* The area between Casey’s Corner and Crystal Palace offers a great, less crowded view of the Wishes! fireworks in the Magic Kingdom.

And one I completely disagree with:

* Downtown Disney is generally a waste of time unless you really like shopping or one of the restaurants there. Most of the Disney merchandise available in the large World of Disney store is also available in other stores in the parks.(*I like going to Downtown Disney to simply walk around. I like looking at the Christmas store, the art store, and grabbing a sandwich at Earl of Sandwich. Of course, I am really excited about [Disney Springs]()*)

As I said at the beginning of the post, it is a really great list. I highly recommend reading the whole thing.
