Not a surprise. With another lack luster season, I figure Lucchino won’t be the only person from the front office to go.

I’m going to the Flyin’ Hawaiian. I hope he has success in Anaheim, and I thank him (again) for helping the Red Sox win a World Series.
Jeff Passan with an excellent column on Pedro’s Hall of Fame speech:
> And though it didn’t take pomp or ceremony for that to be the case, Martinez’s rousing speech – a stream-of-consciousness homily delivered in English and Spanish, accompanied by kettle drums that impelled him to pump his fist and dance, punctuated by the sort of finish reserved for a closer, not a starter – served as a reminder that for all of his brilliance on the field, Pedro’s arm never could match his mind.
I feel lucky that I got to cheer for Pedro when he was a member of the Red Sox.
> Boston, I don’t have enough words to say how much I love you,” Martinez said during a 30-minute speech that began in English and ended in Spanish, as he addressed a huge Dominican audience that showed up with flags and shirts to honor one of the country’s greatest athletes.
As I have said before, Pedro is the best.
Since this season is, essentially, over, we might as well start thinking about how this year’s trade deadline is going impact the team going forward.
Pedro Martinez comments on Colin Cowherd
> I’m sorry. He needs to get to my level to answer him. I’m in the Hall of Fame.
Pedro is the best.
I guess this makes it okay that they’re the worst team in baseball this year?
I guess this could have been a lot worse, but I’m still not getting my hopes up for Clay being a contributor for the rest of this season.
And so it begins. So much for a Red Sox “resurgence” during the second half of the season.
I’m nervous that if I put on my Mookie shirt tonight that I’ll jinx him.
I *will not* get my hopes up. I *will not* get my hopes up…
Interesting look at how Moookie has improved over the course of the season. (I am getting dangerously close to getting optimistic about the Red Sox, again.)
Look how terrible those calls were by Dreckman. He should be fired *today* for that garbage.
I’m glad to see my favorite sports team draft someone from my alma mater, but especially glad since it’s such a touching story. I hope Clate’s treatment is a success and he makes a full recovery.
> But the Red Sox are the team most dazed and confused here on the Ides of June. They have the worst run differential. They are 12th in runs. Their starters’ ERA is the worst in either league. Their defense, especially in left and at third, is in the bottom third of the league.
What a disaster of a season. I really didn’t think this was coming.
Sounds like a decent draft pick by the Sox.
This was the kind of offensive outburst that I expected from the Sox all season. I wonder if this was a “turning the corner” moment.
I think Rodriguez is the single bright spot in the Red Sox season.
No surprise after his 2 starts so far.
You knew this was going to happen as soon as he walked off the mound for the final time last night.
