Hot in Fever – Google Reader Closing on July 1, 2013

Currently hot in my [Fever](http://feedafever.com) instance – **Google Reader Closing on July 1, 2013**

No one should be surprised that [Google’s announcement that they were shutting down Google Reader](http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2013/03/a-second-spring-of-cleaning.html) would be at the top of my *Fever* instance. Though I am sure this will cause some inconvenience to people, I agree with Marco Arment that [it is a positive thing in the long run](http://www.marco.org/2013/03/13/google-reader-sunset). For example, I already have my eye on [David Smith’s just announced syncing solution](http://david-smith.org/blog/2013/03/13/my-secret-project-feed-wrangler/).

Hot in Fever – The Tesla Testdrive

Currently hot in my [Fever](http://feedafever.com) instance – **The Tesla Testdrive**

The basics are:

1. The [New York Times had a scathing review of the Tesla Model S](http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/10/automobiles/stalled-on-the-ev-highway.html?ref=automobiles&_r=1&).

2. Telsa CEO Elon Muskc [responded with a blog post crushing the author of the Times piece and giving data to back up his conclusions](http://www.teslamotors.com/blog/most-peculiar-test-drive).

3. Other media outlets, such as the Atlantic, [have come to the Times’ defense](http://www.theatlanticwire.com/technology/2013/02/elon-musks-data-doesnt-back-his-claims-new-york-times-fakery/62149/).

4. John Broader, author of the original Times piece, [also responded to Musk](http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/14/that-tesla-data-what-it-says-and-what-it-doesnt/).

Personally, if I am betting on whether the New York Times or Tesla is the one manipulating facts, I putting my money on the Times being the fact manipulator every time.

Hot in Fever – Gruber’s Post on Dropbox as the iOS Linchpin

Currently hot in my [Fever](http://feedafever.com) instance – **Gruber’s Post on Dropbox as the iOS Linchpin**

The [original post](http://daringfireball.net/linked/2012/12/17/dropbox-linchpin) and a [subsequent followup](http://daringfireball.net/linked/2012/12/17/apple-dropbox) from Gruber. The major quote that people have latched onto is:

> The scary part though, is that one recurrent theme I see in nearly every single “how I write on the iPad” story is Dropbox. It’s the linchpin in the workflow.

My favorite response [comes from Ben Brooks](http://brooksreview.net/2012/12/linchpin/):

> Here’s the thing though: iCloud’s problem is a UX/UI issue (i.e., easily fixed). Dropbox could easily shift into iCloud, but that’s not the service that they sell and they won’t get that kind of OS level integration from Apple or Microsoft — both have competing services — and therefore a technically easy shift becomes nearly impossible because of the competitive landscape

Really good take and something I had not considered.
