A comprehensive guide from EasyWDW for people attending Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year.
Today, Disney Vacation Club announced that its planned next location will be at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, located on Seven Seas Lagoon at Walt Disney World Resort. When this resort is completed, Disney Vacation Club will have destinations at all three resorts on the monorail system, allowing easy access to Magic Kingdom Park.
I have a feeling that these are going to be mighty expensive.
Robert Niles, writing at Theme Park Insider*:
But the complaints about access into the park, limited park capacity and staffing for the event raised some tough questions for Disney. And not just as it looks ahead to other special events in the future, either. Remember, Hollywood Studios is where Disney's planning to build Star Wars land. And Friday night demonstrated that DHS is in no condition to handle an onslaught of new fans. Star Wars could make Friday night's crowd the everyday crowd at DHS. And that should worry Disney fans and managers alike.
If Disney's going to do Star Wars land right, we won't simply see a fresh overlay of existing park facilities. We will need to see some major infrastructure work around Disney's Hollywood Studios, including new access and exit lanes from the park, expanded Disney transportation, and a larger parking lot. Sited properly, new park entrance lanes could free space for an expansion of the park around the existing Star Tours ride (it bumps up against the current entrance lanes from World Drive). The park's going to need that extra space to accommodate a larger capacity.
This report is not an anomaly, I have seen a bunch of articles about how crazy the crows were at The Studios friday. I hope Disney can figure out how to keep something like this from happening again in the future.
As with most things Disney, being there early is key:
> Line Up Before the Party Starts:
– A huge part of MNSSHP is character meet and greets. Both fur and face characters are in every conceivable corner of the park, but you don't need to bother them unless they're specific to the party.
Every year there are a few must meet characters. This year the big ticket are Jack and Sally from classic Nightmare Before Christmas. These characters (however ugly the design is…) are extremely rare at Walt Disney World, and the line will reflect this throughout the night. If you have any hope of enjoying the party without waiting in a long line during the limited hours available you need to line up early. Join (or start) the queue no later than 45 minutes before 7:00 if you have any interest in meeting these rare characters. The same rule applies for the seven dwarves and the princesses/princes.
It is possible to meet all characters available…but you will have to dedicate your entire evening toward the process.
I have no doubt that this will be a huge hit.
I love how Cinderella's castle looks with the “dream lights” installed.
Len Testa and the gang from Touring Plans tried every item on the new California Grill menu. Here is their summary:
[T]he kitchen was inconsistent all night, with any two servings of the same item varying widely in quality. One order of the Oven-dried Tomato Flatbread would come out undercooked, with soft crust and too much garlic; the next would be crisp and properly seasoned. One table’s order of Georges Bank Scallops would be their favorite, while the next table over complained of grit and too much salt. The kitchen was so inconsistent that we’re not going to assign a rating to California Grill right now.
If you're thinking about going to the California Grill, I would highly recommend reading the whole article so you can get a feel for what items are worth trying.1
Of course, a large part of going to California Grill is viewing Wishes. That still remains, regardless of what you think of the menu. ↩
Cute video. I have no doubt that this is going to be a huge hit.
I am fine with Disney putting this money toward Star Wars land.
You are a sad, strange little man, and you have my pity.
Since my fiancé loves both the beach and Disney, I proposed on the beach in front of the Beach Club.
Changing over Wetzel’s Pretzels to a Starbucks is a good upgrade in my book.
This is the most comprehensive rundown of things currently known about the new Magicbands that I have seen.
I am, unsurprisingly, a Buzz.
The new villains section is pretty cool, but not so over-the-top amazing that I’m *more* bummed that I will not be at The World until November.
I am really bummed I am not going to be down at The World to see this.[^fn1]
[^fn1]: Though I imagine there will be a Youtube version of it by the middle of next week.
This is a good explanation of what Disney “pin codes” are.[^fn1]
[^fn1]: In case you’ve heard the term on a podcast but did not know what it meant.
