NFL Audiopass

I decided to sign up for [NFL Audiopass](http://r.audiopass.nfl.com/a/clk/rZ6RR)[^aff] this year. Listening to so many baseball games via the MLB app has trained me to really enjoy listening to sports via the radio and I am looking forward to giving this a shot. Also, the NFL’s insane blackout restrictions sometimes prevent me from watching the game I actually want to watch. I think this is going to be a good alternative[^cheap].

Middle School Referee

> When Core wasn’t calling games between such powerhouses as the teams of Montana Western and Dickinson State, he was moving up the professional ladder as an activities director at Sawtooth Middle School in Meridian, Idaho. Core’s proximity to Arena2’s Boise Burn led to that particularly challenging gig, as well.

I am rooting for him and the rest of his crew to have a good game.

The Woman who Would Save Football

The process has engendered enormous publicity as well as criticism and jealousy in the scientific community, which is every bit as competitive as the NFL. Her work has brought “a great deal of acclaim, exposure, and recognition,” says neurosurgeon Robert Cantu, clinical professor of neurosurgery at Boston University and co-director of CSTE. “But at the same time it’s brought a great deal of pressure. Not everybody greets her findings with the same degree of enthusiasm.”

Imagine being the person most responsible for the end of America’s favorite game. Depending on how things go, that might be Dr. McKee’s legacy.

The End of the Honey Badger at LSU

At the moment Mathieu caught that punt, the Dawgs were up 10-0. They lost 42-10.

The reason for the dismissal has not come out yet. I imagine that it will before the end of the weekend. Something this big is just too hard to keep secret.

Football’s Growing Killer Problem

George Will on the dangers of football, especially in the NFL:

My fiancé has already said that that our children will not be allowed to play football. At this point, it is tough to argue against that declaration.

Clemson Adds a Purple Heart to their Roster

The story of Daniel Rodriguez:

> Rodriguez served as an Army infantryman in both Iraq and Afghanistan from 2006-10. In October 2009, Rodriguez was wounded in the battle of Kamdesh after more than 400 Taliban insurgents stormed a small American base. Rodriguez took shrapnel in his legs and neck and a bullet fragment in his shoulder, but was awarded a Bronze Star of Valor and Purple Heart for his bravery in the fight.

I would say “well done Dabo,” but I bet this kid earned his spot. So, instead, well done Mr. Rodriguez. Well done.

Clemson landing Top Rated Recruits

Dabo Swiney and the rest of the Clemson staff have had a huge week out on the recruiting trail. Their verbal commitments include [Robert Nkemdiche](http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/recruiting/blog/eye-on-recruiting/19353710/nations-top-recruit-robert-nkemdiche-commits-to-clemson) (the overall number one rated recruit in the country), [Elijah Daniel](http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/recruiting/blog/eye-on-recruiting/19376058/clemson-lands-fourstar-defensive-end-elijah-daniel) (a four star defensive end), and [Dane Rogers](http://www.orangeandwhite.com/news/2012/jun/19/de-bonanza-shelby-nc-star-dane-rogers-commits-clem/?partner=RSS) (another four star defensive end.) It’s a very impressive class, but signing day is still pretty far away. I’m sure places like Alabama and Florida will make very strong pushes to get Nkemdiche to change his mind. Even if the Tigers do end up losing Nkemdiche, however, they could still end up with a very strong class if some of these other recruits end up sticking with the Tigers.
