Huge Improvement from Jackie Bradley Jr. This Year

I am going to be really happy if this means that I’ll get to see JBJ roaming Fenway’s outfield for years to come.

The Currently Exploding Jackie Bradley, Jr.

Can we just start Spring Training for next year already? The young Red Sox players have already got me excited, and I’d rather not have to deal with watching another Yankees pennant race.

How Jackie Bradley Jr. made that catch

JBJ is so smooth in the field. I really hope that he figures it out at the plate so I’ll be able to watch him play in Fenway’s outfield for the next few years.

Jackie Bradley Jr. throws ball over outfield wall from home plate

It might have taken the equivalent of a full season in the majors, but Jackie Bradley is really starting to shine.

Jonah Keri on Jackie Bradley Jr.

> But the highlight of Bradley’s day came in the bottom of the third. With two outs and a man on second, Robinson Cano smashed a drive to deep left. Bradley, who came up through the minors as a center fielder and had little experience playing the slices that come with being a corner outfielder, raced back to the track, and in a near dead run, made a leaning, lunging catch to save a run, ending the inning, and squelching what might’ve become a game-changing Yankees rally.

Jonah Keri has it right, the catch was awesome to watch. I am trying to keep my expectations in check for Bradley, but, I admit, I am getting caught up in the excitement. That said, they are going to send him down for 20 days to get a whole extra year on his contract, right? Right?

Jeff Passan Rips Jackie Bradley Jr.

> I think Bradley has been oversold, frankly, as a super-duper-star when the talent is just not quite there for that,” Passan said. “But I think he’s going to be a really good everyday player. I just hope he doesn’t fall victim to the media hype that can ensconce a player in Boston and New York when he arrives to great fanfare as the savior. Jackie Bradley is not the savior. Everyone needs to get that through their head: Jackie Bradley is not the savior. He is not going to turn this team from a 75-win team into an 85-win team.

Ouch. That hurts. I hope that we can point to Passan’s comments in a few years and say he was dead wrong.

Red Sox Nearing a decision on Jackie Bradley Jr.

I really want to watch Jackie Bradley at the major league level, but it does not make sense to bring him up and have him lose a year under his Red Sox contract. Give him 20 days in the minors and then bring him up.
