Adrian Wojnarowski on the Celtics’ hire of Brad Stevens

> In so many ways, Stevens is a vessel for the evolution of the NBA coach. Partnerships over power trips, analytics over the cult of personality, a conduit over a conductor. To reach consecutive NCAA championship games at Butler was an historic accomplishment, but magic March runs don’t exist in the NBA – just the dreadful, daily death march that comes with the transition from contender to lottery loser and back again.

Most early opinions seem to say that Stevens is going to be a success at the NBA level. I really hope they are right[^fn1].

[^fn1]: And not just because I don’t want him to end up at Duke.

Celtics Hire Brad Stevens as Head Coach

> “Brad and I share a lot of the same values,” said Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge. “Though he is young, I see Brad as a great leader who leads with impeccable character and a strong work ethic. His teams always play hard and execute on both ends of the court. Brad is a coach who has already enjoyed lots of success, and I look forward to working with him towards Banner 18.”

Are you kidding me? What a tremendous hire.
