A New Home for ‘Festival of the Lion King’ at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

I wonder if this means we are going to get an Avatar-land announcement at D23.

Disney Springs Construction Photo Report

Looking at Joe Hogarty’s ohoto report brings back so many memories. As I have said a bunch of times before, I spent so many great nights at the Comedy Warehouse, that I really sad to see it go. I hope Disney Springs can be at least as strong as the old Pleasure Island was.

More Details about the Disney’s 2013 Food and Wine Festival

As always, *Disney Food Blog* has a pretty detailed rundown of everything happening during the Disney Food and Wine Festival. It is going to be really hard not to drive down there for a weekend to try out some of the new stuff.[^fn1]

[^fn1]: If I really want to convince Elyssa to head down, then I should probably mention the “The Chocolate Experience: From Bean to the Bar by Ghirardelli”. That sounds amazing.

Disney Food Blog’s Rundown of the New Refillable Mug Program

Interesting. I will be staying at the Beach Club for 4 days[^fn1], and I wonder if $15 is really worth it. It is going to be a tough call.[^fn2]

[^fn1]: Well, three days where I will actually be in and around the place.

[^fn2]: Especially, because I keep thinking I can stock the fridge with Coke Zero for about $4.

A New Nightime Show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Rumored for 2014

The *Disney Hipsters* have the details

> Rivers of Light is the almost maybe could be official name of the first ever regularly scheduled night time show to take place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The show has been in development since 2006, before being put on hold indefinitely in 2008

> …

> Earlier this month, Rivers of Light received its inaugural test run hours after the park closed and it was a resounding success. Rivers of Light (I figure the more often I repeat the title, the less pedestrian it will sound) will incorporate Disney’s new favorite toy – that being projection technology – to make the animals emblazoned on the Tree Of Life seemingly (relatively speaking) come alive

Interesting. I would love to see a reason to be at Animal Kingdom later in the day.[^fn1]

[^fn1]: Well, other than *Avatar Land* of course…assuming that actually happens.

Tips for doing a runDisney Event on the Cheap

Lani Teshima shares some tips on how to save money when doing a runDisney event. I will probably be doing a few of these things when Elyssa and I do the Princess 10K next year.[^fn1]

[^fn1]: Though we will probably be staying on-property because the thought of having to drive to a 3am race is horrifying.

They have started tearing down the Comedy Warehouse at Downtown Disney

I know this is necessary to start building the new Disney Springs, but it really sad to see the Comedy Warehouse get torn down. I had so many good memories at that place.

AT&T Named Official Wireless Provider for Disney Parks North America

This *might* help cellphone use in the park[^fn1], but it definitely will not help the fact that AT&T is pretty much useless in most of the state of Florida.

[^fn1]: I really doubt it will. There are just too many people.

Tom Biricker’s D23 Expo* 2013 Announcement Predictions

Two thoughts:

1. I agree with Tom.

2. I hope we are both wrong and Disney announces something big.

‘The Hat Lady’ show no longer performing at Epcot’s Rose and Crown Pub

It is sad to see Carol Stein’s role reduced. Hopefully, they can find her a nice, new home at Disney Springs when it is completed. Preferably, at some kind of improv comedy club.[^fn1]

[^fn1]: I will never get over how good she was at the Comedy Warehouse. I really, really miss that place.

More parking lot closures coming to Downtown Disney

> The current plan calls for lots I, J and K to be closed on July 22 2013. Combined with the recent lot H closure, this will mean that all parking lots from Disney Quest to the Pleasure Island bus stops will be closed.

That is really going to make things congested. I am interested to see how the [shuttle bus](http://www.wdwmagic.com/attractions/disney-springs/news/15jul2013-more-parking-lot-closures-coming-to-downtown-disney-and-off-site-parking-readied-for-busy-periods.htm#.UeQzUeNIJrQ.twitter) stuff works.

Carousel of Progress: A True Piece of American History

In the various times I had been do Disney World in the past 30+ years, I had not been on the Carousel of Progress until last year. I am so glad I decided to ride it[^fn1], especially since I feel that it is so quintessentially Disney.

[^fn1]: I can thank Elyssa for suggesting it.

Cap’n Jack’s Restaurant at Downtown Disney set to close in mid-August

I know that Cap’n Jack’s doesn’t have the best reputation, but I have always had a good time when I went. It is a stretch to say I will miss it, but it is weird to think it will be gone.[^fn1]

[^fn1]: On the other hand, I am going to miss Planet Hollywood when it closes. I have had just too many memories at that place.
