All of Shakin the Southland’s Clemson Season Previews

If you are like me, you are going to want to read all of these:

→ Pat Forde is not a huge fan of Clemson’s Chances this Season

Bust: Clemson. Dabo Swinney has recruited well enough to survive some significant talent losses the past couple years, but the Tigers still should take a step back from last year’s 11-2 record and Orange Bowl victory. If new quarterbacks and a new kicker don’t come through, maybe a big step back.

A step back to 10-3 would be a bummer, but not terrible. I big step back would not be so fun.

→ Vintage Walt Disney World: A Classic Game of Baseball

I wish the characters played afternoon baseball games. I would totally watch those.

→ Neil Gaiman’s 8 Rules for Writing

It is tough to argue with this advice.

→ XKCD – Loop

This happens far too commonly for me.

→ MLB.tv’s blackout restrictions could be over in 2015

I assume people in North Carolina will still be screwed because we do not get MASN.

→ Shakin The Southland’s Clemson Season Preview

The new writing staff at Shakin the Southland is rolling out in-depth previews of various aspects of Clemson’s season all day today. If you want to know way too much about Clemson’s upcoming season, I imagine this is a good place to start.

→ TouringPlans outlines the new Universal Orlando Early Park Admission Changes

Seth Kubersky has the details

Effective Tuesday, September 2, 2014, only Universal Studios Florida’s front gates (and not those at Islands of Adventure) will admit eligible guests for early park admission during the off season. Despicable Me and the Diagon Alley attractions will be open at USF during early entry.

In addition, guests with park-to-park tickets may also take the Hogwarts Express from King’s Cross Station to Islands of Adventure to enjoy attractions in The Wizarding World of Harry Pottery – Hogsmeade during the early admission hour. There will be no way to enter IoA during early entry with a single-park ticket.

It seems like a fair compromise for the off-peak season.

→ New Villains’ Sinister Soiree Added to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

These additional cost, “Premium Packages” are going to show up at all of the major Disney events. They are just too popular to pass up. This one includes:

a preferred viewing area for the 8:15 p.m. “Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade,” a preferred viewing spot for “Happy HalloWishes” fireworks extravaganza, as well as a special dessert party at Cinderella’s Royal Table, hosted by Lady Tremaine. The restaurant will be transformed into a villainous atmosphere, with a piano player and haunting solos from Cinderella’s evil step-mother. The dessert party will include over-the-top desserts and non-alcoholic beverages, plus an autograph card and a souvenir Maleficent Dragon cup.

→ The Kick-Off Show from Villains Unleashed

Speaking of Villains Unleashed, you can see the opening performance from the event over at Inside the Magic.

→ WDW has another Negative Impression of Villian’s Unleashed

Here’s the summary:

One would hope that with these changes – especially the new price tag, the new Villains Unleashed hard ticket party would be an enjoyable experience with Disney learning from the mistakes that were made a year earlier.

Unfortunately that wasn’t the case and Disney grossly oversold the event making crowds unmanageable, merchandise and food selling out early in the night, and over three hour waits for character meet-and-greets during a five hour event. The situation was so bad that Disney was reportedly offering guests full refunds for the event at Guest Relations or offering guests tickets to this year’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Ouch.

→ First Official Dancing Groot Toy Announced

I will be pre-ordering one of these.

→ Deb from AllEars.net Reviews the Villains Unleashed Event

She appears to not have been a fan. Some of the long lines associated with the character meet-n-greets is exactly the type thing I was afraid of. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how Disney can resolve this.

→ Guardians of the Galaxy theme park characters appear for first time as Walt Disney World welcomes Marvel

Star-Lord and Gamora don’t look half bad. I think I would get a picture taken with them.

→ Previewing the Pac-12

Speaking of the Pac-12, check out Grantland’s Preview if you want a closer look at the league.

→ Pat Forde says that the Pac-12 will be the Best Conference in College Football

Interesting argument from one of the better writers in College Football. Good coaches + Good QBs = Success. Personally, I wouldn’t mind someone knocking the SEC down a peg or two.

→ American Film Institute Showcase permanently closing at the end of this week

Speaking of closings, it looks like Disney is clearing out more and more room at the Studios. I hope this means some announcements about updates are just around the corner.

→ Sunrise Safari tour at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to be discontinued

This a bummer. I was hoping to try this one day.

→ Grantland’s Pro Wrestling Dictionary

If you are at all interested in professional wrestling, take 20 minutes and go through this listing of terms you’ve probably heard in wrestling coverage but might not know.

→ Booker T Threw out the First Pitch at an Astros Game

I am linking to this solely because the mascot’s Spinaroonie is awesome.
