How to Read Saga Issue 12 on your iPad

As you have probably heard, [Apple has prevented Saga Issue #12](http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=44817) from being sold as an in-app purchase in the Comixology app. That leaves a couple of options if you still want to read Saga Issue #12 on your iPad[^store].

First, (though not recommended) you could just [buy it from the iBookstore](http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id=r*bqlTuiXSo&offerid=146261&type=3&subid=0&tmpid=1826&RD_PARM1=https%253A%252F%252Fitunes.apple.com%252Fus%252Fbook%252Fsaga-12%252Fid633995947%253Fmt%253D11%2526uo%253D4%2526partnerId%253D30). For some [unknown reason](http://www.macworld.com/article/2033704/apple-blocks-explicit-comic-in-app-store-but-not-ibookstore.html#lsrc.twt_dmoren_app), as of the writing of this post, Saga Issue #12 is available as an iBook that you can just download to your iPad.

Alternatively, (and this is my preferred method) you can buy the comic from the [Comixology](http://www.comixology.com/) website and then download it to your iPad from within the Comixology app. This process is a little cumbersome, but it is rather straightforward:

1. Go to the [Saga Issue 12 Page on Comixology](http://www.comixology.com/Saga-12/digital-comic/FEB1304610).

2. Click the big, red “Buy Digital Comic” button under the cover image. (You should see the in the upper right corner updated to reflect your new edition.)

3. Go up to the cart, hover over it, and then click “Checkout”

4. Follow the checkout prompts. (Unfortunately, if you have never used Comixology to purchase a digital comic before, you will have to create a new account[^fn1] Make sure to pay attention during this process, since this account is how you sync your comic to the Comixology app.)

5. On your iPad, open the Comixology app and choose the “Purchases” link from the navigation bar at the bottom.

6. If you are already logged in with your Comixology account, you should see Saga Issue #12 listed right there under your recent purchases. If you are not logged in, you can log in via the “Account” button in the upper right. After a brief refresh to get your purchased content, you should be able to see Saga Issue #12 listed in your recent purchases.

Yes, this process is a little annoying, but it does allow you to read Saga Issue #12 so you can see what all the fuss is about.

[^fn1]: Having a Comixology account also has the benefit of letting you read your digital comics across the various devices where Comixology has an app: iOS, Android, Kindle, etc…

[^store]: Of course, you could also use this as an excuse to support your local comic book store. If you are in the Raleigh / Durham, NC area, I would recommend [Ultimate Comics](http://ultimatecomics.com).
